And your comment about tweeting reminded me of something we witnessed on a college tour. Two boys got stuck in an elevator and the first thing they did was update their status to stuck in elevator.kgwaitenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8009654420271577413.post-25330075489760452562011-08-08T14:07:30.740-07:002011-08-08T14:07:30.740-07:00I read recently that "The only power tyrants ...I read recently that "The only power tyrants have is that relinquished by their victims". It's a stretch, but if we assume that the power tyrants (too strong a word) are taking over our decision making processes, I guess those of us who become victioms have allowed it to happen...by going along with it?jaumnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8009654420271577413.post-90342486803656861332011-08-08T11:49:55.665-07:002011-08-08T11:49:55.665-07:00What great insight you have and the questions you ...What great insight you have and the questions you raise are good ones to ponder-- for all of us! Reading your kindle while riding on a motorcycle? Really. I can't even imagine how she can keep her eyes focused on the 'page'... and as to the Kindle... i want one even as I insist there is nothing like the feel of a real book in your hands... thanks for this great post!Howbeautifulonthemountainsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8009654420271577413.post-76836643231569450042011-08-08T11:44:09.542-07:002011-08-08T11:44:09.542-07:00I agree with your sentiments about the amount of &...I agree with your sentiments about the amount of "portion control" we're being subjected to as a society, but I guess when a large majority of our population abuses self-service, the supplier has no choice but to indulge our childish tendencies and divvy out our fair share. Besides... aren't we all to busy tweeting our current mood, brain fart or self-promotion to be bothered with pumping soap or turning on and off a faucet?Leslie Collinsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8009654420271577413.post-27039663889956264362011-08-08T09:58:00.110-07:002011-08-08T09:58:00.110-07:00I find in interesting that some one could concentr...I find in interesting that some one could concentrate on a book when they are on the back of a motorcycle. I can't even read on a treadmill and there is nothing to look at in that instance. Even on a Interstate there are interesting things to see.

I agree about the "too much" automation in regards to things like toilets and soap dispensers. I think I am capable of deciding some things for myself.

Of course, then I become a hypocrit as I like all the bells and whistles on my car and my major appliances. I want my car to tell me how many miles I have left before I run out of gas, if I am heading E or W, and what the outdoor temp is. Oh...and if I make a wrong turn, it needs to recalculate.Cheryl P.http://artofbeingconflicted.comnoreply@blogger.com
