Apology

I’m sorry, Rose.

Your silky skin; crimson dripping.  Tender neck, thin and bent.

Water will not revive.

Your future gone.

I hang my head in shame.

You were more beautiful in my garden.

Oh, I've struggling roses too. My roses languish unpruned in spring storms and lay split and uprooted by the wind. This is one of my favorite entries thus far.

Poor Rose. It is not easy to see a flower die, especially when it is at my hands. :-)

This was stunning, after I read it twice to see personification at its best. Really nice! I have 6 rose bushes that I just adore. I NEVER vase any of them, precisely for the reason you wrote here. They are better in the garden for sure!

my husband hates cut flowers. (which means I seldom receive flowers, but that's another story) Alas, poor Rose, I knew her well. :)

Aw! Such a perspective. I love flowers in my garden and in a vase, or in a pot or anyplace! Nice response to the prompt!

My husband tells me I have a black thumb. If a plant comes in this house, it's as good as dead. Well written!
