Red Flash

I saw the sky was painted grey;
raining tears of white.

I saw the grass was painted brown;
tips, curled down, were blue.

I saw the flash of cardinal's wing;
red projecting hope.

This was written for this weekend's Trifecta Writing Challenge:

This weekend, writers, it's up to you. We want you to choose a word and use it three times in your 33 words. However, it must be either a verb, noun or adjective and the form of the word cannot change, it must appear exactly the same three times.

Colors, words and thought provoking scenes. You never disappoint with your beautiful brush strokes of words.

And Hope being the highlight brought the piece full circle, after the tears and the loss is the Hope.

Loved it.

I love how the colors noticed go from depressing to hopeful in the glimpse of a cardinal's wing.
P.S. Congrats on your win the last challenge. Your story stuck in my mind long after I read it.

Incredible! The sounds and pace are perfect - especially that second stanza with the rhyme half way through the line. A great, tight poem.

Agree with Brian on this one, tightly written and beautiful, not easy to do but you do it. Thanks for linking up!

Those flashes of red are my favourite part of winter. This is so gorgeous Kelly! Seamless use of your chosen word.

WOW. This is absolutely gorgeous, every word. It was so well done that I wasn't even conscious of the prompt! That last line reminds us of the sort of thing that gets us through the winter.

Of course, the whole is beautiful.
But the imagery of the first stanza
and the sound of the second are absolutely entrancing.
