Myopic

Tree roots cup snowmelt, miniature basins gathering light and returning it to the
stars, a dazzle of sunshine guilding the frosty air. I pass, myopic, intent on the cell phone jangling my pocket.

one of my favorites. A solid message of ignoring beauty for momentary things. Loved this, so well done in 33 words. *fist bump*

First off, I loved how you used the word "guilding." It brings such a pretty image to mind. And second, this is so sadly true. In the midst of stunning beauty, some people just can't seem to see farther than the end of their phone;)

Returning it to the stars.. guilding the frosty air... love the poetry. And then the cell phone, of course, all that is there even if we don't see it.

I agree with Valerie and Steph, your language here is gorgeous, especially guilding. Excellent write, Kelly!

Beautiful. What a timely reminder to just stop and breathe in the beauty of the winter wonderland outside :-)

I've been guilty of this myself, and it never fails to make me ashamed. Great writing.
